Are You an Empath?

An Empath can feel and take on other people's (both positive and negative) emotions, energy and, or, physical symptoms,  and have an innate ability to intuitively feel and perceive others.

An empath is a highly sensitive person who is naturally tuned into the energy and emotions which exist outside of their own energy fields (usually being emitted by other people and places). Empaths are emotional sponges and have a higher sensitivity to outside stimuli such as sounds, crowds, and hectic environments. They absorb those feelings and even ailments,  into their own energy body (and sometimes even their physical body) and experiences them as though they were their own. Empaths are gifted at reading body language and energy and have the intuitive gift of Clairempathy. You can read about the traits of being an Empath here.

An Empath is similar to being an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person), however HSPs don’t absorb the thoughts, emotions or ailments of others and they don’t get the same "hunches" that empaths do. Most empaths fall into the category of HSP, but not all HSPs are empaths.

Empaths can truly be disliked simply because, without intending to, they can energetically mirror back the entire inner angst and lack of personal integrity of another, exposing an unwillingness to face their own dishonesty, greed, hatred, and desire to hide from the truth as well as from themselves. This can happen completely outside the empath’s conscious awareness as they tend to keep sending out light which can irritate another’s demons while being perplexed at the reactions. It can literally drive those who thrive on inauthenticity out of their minds.

It can be hard to navigate as an Empath in today's world. Many empaths may experience things like panic attacks, depression and/or chronic fatigue. If not careful, they can binge on things like food, drugs or alcohol, and more likely than not, Empaths can exhibit many other physical symptoms that defy traditional diagnosis in the field of western medicine. When I first discovered that I was an Empath, I found it challenging to find information on the topic, as well as to connect with others who could assist me.

I have a private Facebook Group that connects Empaths, and those who have family members who are Empaths. If you are looking for more resources, or to connect with more like-minded people, consider joining:

Please contact me if I can be of assistance to you on your journey as an Empath.
